Turning great work into a compelling case study
Launch had delivered strong results for luxury home fragrance brand St Eval. My job was to help turn that work into a concise case study that could demonstrate the agency’s value to prospective clients.

The challenge
Launch is a marketing agency working with ambitious brands across the UK. I’ve worked with the team for around three years, initially producing content around their annual client conference and more recently developing client case studies with them.
Case studies present an interesting challenge. There’s usually a lot to talk about: the original brief, the thinking behind the campaign, the working relationship and, crucially, the results.
The job is to take all of that and turn it into a compelling three or four-minute story that demonstrates what the agency achieved without feeling like a sales pitch.
Telling the St Eval story
For this case study, Launch wanted to showcase its work with luxury home fragrance brand St Eval.
Working with Launch’s marketing team, I helped develop the interview questions and then conducted interviews with both the agency and the client.
The St Eval interview was filmed separately on location in Bristol, while interviews with the Launch team were captured at their annual conference.
That gave us the two sides of the story: Launch could explain the thinking and work behind the campaign, while St Eval could talk about the relationship, the results and the impact on the business.
Finding the story in the interview
Good case studies aren’t simply a series of answers edited together.
Around 30 minutes of interviews needed to become a focused three-to-four-minute film. My role was to identify the strongest parts of those conversations and build them into a narrative that explained the challenge, demonstrated the work and provided credible evidence of the results.
The visual treatment was also designed to reflect the aesthetic of the St Eval brand, helping the finished film feel connected to the work being showcased.
“David helps us produce case study and event videos, and alongside being reliable, professional and friendly he brings a fresh perspective every time.
When we rebranded he got it instantly – taking brand elements he’d never worked with before and producing an event video that was totally Launch.
Our St Eval filming slot got cancelled at the last minute and he helped us work out a new, better way to do it. On the day of filming he made our interviewee feel at ease and his prompts led to some brilliant insights and soundbites, including a top performing Youtube short.”
More than a conference film
My work with Launch originally developed through filming their annual conference.
It’s only a half-day event, but Launch brings together clients, partners, prospects and expert speakers. That makes it an unusually valuable opportunity to capture content.
Rather than treating the conference as something that simply needs documenting, we plan it as a content opportunity.
At the most recent event, we created around 20 separate assets, including full presentations, a client case study, expert insight films, CEO pieces to camera and multiple event edits for web and social media.
It means a single half-day shoot can provide Launch with content to use over the following weeks and months, rather than commissioning separate shoots every time something new is needed.
An ongoing content partnership
What started as annual conference coverage has developed into a broader relationship encompassing event films, social content, interviews and client case studies.
The common thread is making more of the stories and expertise Launch already has: identifying what’s worth capturing, finding the right way to tell it and turning it into content that has a useful life beyond the original shoot.
