5 Ways to Speed Up Your Video Content Production

Feb 7, 2023

One of the most common things people say to me is that video takes too much time.

Video is one of the more complex communication tools, it’s also one of the most valuable. You need to factor in planning, filming and editing but at the end of the process you have an asset that can be repurposed into text, stills and shorter videos.

But like everything there are ways to speed up the production process and short cut processes without compromising on quality.

Here are five easy ways to speed up you production time.

1. Choosing the right software.

It’s easy to get caught up in all the different platforms and options when it comes to editing.

If you’ve ever tried to use applications like Adobe Premiere you’ll know that it can get pretty complicated quite quickly.

In truth you’ll never use 80% of Premiere’s options. Importantly, if it stops you publishing it’s the wrong platform to use.

Adobe Rush is a great alternative to Premiere that strips out all the unnecessary buttons and options and leaves you with the essentials.
It’s quick, cheap and user friendly.

2. Templates.

When you start editing more regularly it’s worth spending time setting up a template.

This is a simple project that’s set up with all of you brand colours, titles & music that will fast track your production.

Templates take a bit of time to set up but save you lots of time in the long run.

3. Stock libraries

Stock libraries used to be quite expensive because you paid for every clip or music track separately. This put a psychological and literal financial barrier on every piece of content.

Nowadays there are some great services like Storyblocks that allow you to access their entire library for a one time fee. Use Storyblocks for:

Sound effects
Library video clips
Motion Graphics templates
Photos & Vectors

And a range of other useful production assets. If you want to level up your content I’d recommend it.

4. Batching

This one is straight forward. Setting equipment up and climbing the psychological barrier of creating content can be an inefficient use of time.

If you plan and create in blocks you should be able to create multiple assets in one go. Consistency is hugely important when it comes to self publishing. Managing your time will help with that and your results will be better.

5. Outsourcing

Outsourcing isn’t always the simple process people think it is. First you have to find someone who is reliable and trustworthy.
Then you have to put together communication systems that work and don’t absorb to much of your time in delegating.
You can find a range of international talent to help you on platforms like Upwork

Budget is always a factor and the cheapest option may land up costing you time. UK based services can sometime be easier to work with (drop us a line at BlinkBack if you need help here).
